New Delhi: JBM Auto Ltd has emerged as the leading player in India’s electric bus segment with a 49 per cent market share in May 2026, registering 157 electric buses during the month, according to data available on the Vahan portal.

The company said it retained its leadership position after recording the highest electric bus registrations in FY26 and further strengthened its standing in May, reflecting growing adoption of its electric mobility solutions.

JBM Auto attributed the performance to its manufacturing capabilities and focus on developing high-strength, lightweight bus platforms designed for efficient and sustainable public transport. The company said the integration of Telangana’s vehicle registration data into the Vahan portal from May 2026 has also provided a more comprehensive picture of national electric bus registrations.

“Our growth reflects a clear focus on decarbonising public transport while aligning with global benchmarks in sustainable mobility. At JBM Auto, we are building solutions that combine innovation, efficiency and user-centric design. Our aim is not only to reduce emissions but also to enhance everyday mobility by making it smarter, safer and more accessible,” JBM Auto Vice Chairman and Managing Director Nishant Arya said.

The company operates what it claims is the world’s largest dedicated integrated electric bus manufacturing facility outside China, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 buses in the National Capital Region.

According to the company, its electric buses have cumulatively covered over 400 million e-kilometres, served more than one billion passengers and helped save over one billion kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions so far.
