Pune: Cummins India Ltd has appointed Adegbile Adedapo Adewunmi as its Managing Director and India Regional Leader, effective November 1, 2026, entrusting him with expanded responsibilities alongside his current role leading the company’s Industrial Markets business.
The appointment was approved by the company’s board on October 8 for a three-year term ending October 31, 2029, subject to shareholders’ approval and other applicable statutory clearances, Cummins India said.
Adewunmi, popularly known as Gbile, will also serve as an Additional Director and Key Managerial Personnel of the company. He will continue leading the Industrial Markets business within Cummins’ Power Systems segment.
“Gbile is a respected global leader with deep experience across Cummins and a strong track record of delivering customer-focused growth and business performance,” Jenny Bush, President of Power Systems, said.
She said his enterprise-wide perspective, ability to build high-performing teams and commitment to customers positioned him well to lead Cummins India and the India region while advancing the company’s Industrial Markets strategy.
Adewunmi currently serves as Vice President of Power Systems Industrial Markets at Cummins Inc, leading a USD 2.5 billion business with more than 600 employees across multiple continents.
In this role, he oversees power solutions for customers across mining, marine, rail, defence, and oil and gas industries. He has also worked with customers and partners on hybrid-electric retrofit solutions, mining technologies and other offerings aimed at improving productivity, reliability and reducing emissions.
Under his leadership, the Industrial Markets business delivered USD 300 million in profitable growth over three years, according to his profile.
Adewunmi has previously held several senior positions at Cummins, including Executive Director of Strategy for Power Systems, Director of Global Parts Product Management and Managing Director of the North and West Africa Distribution business. He was named a corporate officer of Cummins in 2024.
He began his career as an engineer at Delphi Electronics before moving into investment banking at Credit Suisse, where he worked on mergers and acquisitions and initial public offerings in the technology and telecommunications sectors.
Adewunmi holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Purdue University.
“India is a critical market for Cummins, and I look forward to partnering with our employees, customers and stakeholders to build on our strong foundation and continue powering a more prosperous world,” Adewunmi said.
