New Delhi: Marking a significant milestone in its partnership with the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), Volvo Buses India, has secured an order for 200 Volvo 9600 coaches. This represents the single-largest order for Volvo buses in India and marks a significant commitment to strengthening premium intercity public transportation in the state.

The order, comprising 170 seater buses and 30 sleeper buses, underscores MSRTC’s commitment to elevating inter-city travel experience for passengers. The buses will bring Volvo’s internationally recognized standards of safety, comfort and reliability to intercity and inter-state routes, offering passengers a premium travel experience through the state’s public transportation network.

Commenting on the order, Mr. Suresh Chettiar, Executive Vice President – Bus Division, VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd., said, “We sincerely thank the Transport Minister of Maharashtra, Pratap Sarnaik, and Dr. Madhav Kusekar, IAS, Managing Director and Vice Chairman, MSRTC, for their continuing trust in Volvo buses. This landmark order reflects our shared commitment to elevating travel and making premium passenger experiences more accessible for the citizens of Maharashtra. We are proud to continue to partner with MSRTC to enhance the state’s public transportation network.”

The induction reflects the Government of Maharashtra’s focus on superior passenger comfort, enhanced safety and the continued modernization of state-run transport services. Designed to deliver high reliability and consistent performance, the Volvo 9600 aligns with MSRTC’s objective of setting new passenger centric benchmarks in intercity travel across the state.
