Gurugram: Renault India on Monday launched the Triber 100PS, its first model based on the new Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP), with prices starting at Rs 7.84 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new Triber variant is powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged TCe 100 petrol engine that develops 100 PS and 180 Nm of torque. Renault claims a certified fuel efficiency of 21 kmpl for the seven-seater.
The Triber 100PS is available in three variants — Evolution, Techno and Emotion — priced between Rs 7.84 lakh and Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Renault said the new model is not merely a powertrain upgrade but has undergone extensive engineering changes involving the engine management system, thermal management, vehicle structure, suspension, braking and vehicle dynamics.
The new Renault Engine Management System (R-EMS) has been developed to optimise engine performance, responsiveness and efficiency. The vehicle also gets a revised suspension geometry, front and rear anti-roll bars, MTV damper technology and dedicated vehicle dynamics tuning for Indian road conditions.
A BLDC cooling fan has also been introduced as part of the thermal management system. Renault said the technology enables more precise cooling control and improved energy efficiency.
The Triber 100PS retains the model’s sub-four-metre footprint and modular seating arrangement, allowing configurations for five, six or seven occupants. It comes with Easy-Fix third-row seats, slide-and-recline second-row seats and one-touch tumble access.
With five seats in use, the vehicle offers up to 625 litres of boot space, while Renault claims a best-in-class ground clearance of 182 mm and third-row space.
“The Triber 100PS is an important step in Renault India’s product roadmap and a strong expression of what our brand stands for: innovation that is practical, accessible and relevant to Indian customers,” Renault India Vice President-Sales and Marketing Francisco Hidalgo said.
The company said the launch is part of its plan to introduce 12 product interventions over 18 months in India.
Renault Engineering India Head Dr Vikraman Vellandi said developing the Triber 100PS involved integrating the new powertrain with the vehicle’s thermal, structural, suspension, braking and dynamics systems while retaining its modularity and efficiency.
The Triber 100PS comes with features including an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, digital LED instrument cluster, automatic air-conditioning, cruise control, wireless charging, rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlamps.
Safety features include six airbags and 21 safety features as standard, while higher variants offer front parking sensors, a rear-view camera and tyre pressure monitoring system. Renault said more than 2.5 lakh Triber units have been sold in India since its introduction.
The company said the Triber 100PS is also the first Renault model in India based on the RGEP architecture, which has been developed to support multiple powertrain options and future regulatory requirements.
