Pune: Skoda Auto Volkswagen India on Monday said it has commenced production of the new Skoda Slavia at its Chakan manufacturing facility in Pune, ahead of the festive season.
The new Slavia comes with upgrades in design, technology, comfort and safety, building on the sedan’s existing presence in the Indian market.
Skoda said nearly 80,000 units of the Slavia have been sold in India since its launch, giving the model around 30 per cent share of its segment.
The new model continues to offer European engineering and carries a five-star Global NCAP safety rating. It will also be offered with an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission paired with the 1.0 TSI engine.
Among the key additions are a rear-seat massage function, a 360-degree area-view camera and an updated infotainment system featuring an AI companion powered by Google Cloud.
“The start of production of the new Slavia is another demonstration of our capabilities and further underlines the strategic importance of India within our global operations,” Skoda Auto Chief Production Officer Andreas Dick said.
SAVWIPL Managing Director and CEO Piyush Arora said the new Slavia builds on the sedan’s design, driving dynamics, safety and engineering strengths while adding new technology, comfort and convenience features.
Skoda Auto India Brand Director Ashish Gupta said the Slavia had established a strong position in the Indian sedan market, with nearly 30 per cent segment share.
“The new Slavia elevates everything customers value about the car, combining timeless design and European engineering with safety, performance, modern technology and greater comfort,” Gupta said.
The company said the timing of the production start has been aligned with the festive season, traditionally a key period for passenger vehicle purchases in India.
SAVWIPL operates two manufacturing facilities with a combined annual production capacity of 3.15 lakh vehicles. The company crossed the milestone of producing two million vehicles locally in 2025.
Under its “Made in India for India and the World” strategy, the company has exported more than 7.25 lakh vehicles to over 40 countries, it said.
The company said its Technology Centre in Pune, along with its manufacturing facilities, has strengthened its capabilities in localisation, engineering and adapting products for Indian and international markets.
