New Delhi: Renault India on Friday announced an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 29 km per litre for its new Duster strong hybrid E-Tech 160, with bookings opening ahead of its official market debut on October 17.
Customers can book the SUV for Rs 21,000 through the company’s official website or authorised dealerships, Renault India said in a statement.
The new Duster will introduce Renault’s E-Tech strong-hybrid technology in India, combining a 1.8-litre petrol engine, two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery to deliver a combined output of 160 PS.
The vehicle features an intelligent multi-mode transmission that manages the petrol engine and electric motors according to driving conditions. It can run on electric power under suitable conditions and recover energy during braking and deceleration.
The battery charges while driving and does not require an external charging source, the company said.
Positioning the SUV as an alternative for customers considering diesel-powered vehicles, Renault said the combination of 160 PS output and 29 km per litre fuel efficiency aims to balance performance with lower fuel consumption.
The model will be the first E-Tech vehicle to be introduced in India under Renault’s futuREady roadmap, marking a step in the company’s electrification strategy in the country.
“Indian SUV customers should not have to choose between performance and fuel efficiency,” Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Renault Group India, said.
