Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Limited on Friday reported an 11 per cent year-on-year increase in its trucks and buses sales for April 2026, even as it flagged moderation in the commercial vehicle industry due to macroeconomic pressures.

The company said its total sales, including exports, in the trucks and buses segment (above 3.5 tonnes) stood at 3,011 units in April 2026 as compared to 2,708 units in the same month last year.

Mahindra’s trucks and buses business comprises the Mahindra Trucks and Buses Division (MTBD) and SML Mahindra Limited.

Within the combined business, cargo vehicle sales rose 8 per cent to 1,159 units from 1,078 units a year earlier, while passenger vehicle sales grew 14 per cent to 1,852 units compared to 1,630 units in April 2025.

The MTBD arm reported a 6 per cent increase in total sales at 1,270 units as against 1,196 units in the year-ago period. Cargo vehicle sales under MTBD stood at 749 units, up 9 per cent from 689 units, while passenger vehicle sales rose 3 per cent to 521 units from 507 units.

Commenting on the industry outlook, Vinod Sahay, Executive Chairman of SML and President for Aerospace, Advanced Technologies, Trucks, Buses and Construction Equipment at Mahindra & Mahindra, said the commercial vehicle sector witnessed moderation during April due to the transition into the new financial year, inflationary pressures and heightened geopolitical uncertainties.

He added that the company continues to closely monitor supply chain risks and elevated input costs, which could impact demand trends in the coming months.
