Mumbai: Tata Motors Limited on Friday reported a robust 28 per cent year-on-year increase in its total commercial vehicle (CV) sales for April 2026, driven by strong demand across segments in both domestic and international markets.

The company said its total CV sales stood at 34,833 units in April 2026 as compared to 27,221 units in the same month last year.

Domestic sales, which continued to anchor overall growth, rose 27.9 per cent to 32,965 units last month from 25,764 units in April 2025, according to a regulatory filing.

International business volumes also recorded a healthy rise of 28.2 per cent to 1,868 units, up from 1,457 units in the year-ago period.

The company witnessed growth across all key commercial vehicle categories during the month, reflecting improving demand conditions and continued traction in logistics and infrastructure-linked activities.

The small commercial vehicle (SCV) cargo and pickup segment emerged as the top performer, registering a sharp 40.2 per cent increase in sales to 12,799 units compared to 9,131 units in April last year.

Heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) trucks posted a 23.4 per cent growth, with volumes rising to 8,969 units from 7,270 units a year earlier, while intermediate, light and medium commercial vehicle (ILMCV) trucks recorded a 16.5 per cent increase at 5,454 units as against 4,680 units in the corresponding period.

Passenger carrier sales also showed strong momentum, growing 22.6 per cent to 5,743 units in April 2026 from 4,683 units in April 2025.

Within the medium, heavy and intermediate commercial vehicle (MH&ICV) segment, domestic sales stood at 14,565 units for the month, up from 12,093 units in the year-ago period.

On a combined basis, including both domestic and international markets, MH&ICV sales rose to 15,403 units in April 2026 compared to 12,760 units in April 2025.

The strong start to the financial year underscores sustained demand across freight and passenger mobility segments, with Tata Motors benefiting from broad-based growth across its commercial vehicle portfolio.
