Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) on Sunday reported a 40 per cent year-on-year growth in sales of its trucks and buses business, including exports, at 2,838 vehicles in October 2026, compared with 2,034 units in the corresponding month last year.

The company’s trucks and buses business comprises Mahindra Truck and Bus Division (MTBD) and SML Mahindra Limited.

Cargo vehicle sales across the two businesses rose 62 per cent to 2,036 units in October, against 1,255 units in the year-ago period. Passenger vehicle sales increased 3 per cent to 802 units from 779 units.

During the April-October period of FY27, the combined business recorded sales of 20,643 vehicles, registering a growth of 24 per cent over 16,622 units in the corresponding period of FY26. Cargo vehicle sales grew 29 per cent to 10,535 units, while passenger vehicle sales increased 19 per cent to 10,108 units.

MTBD recorded total sales of 1,773 vehicles in October, up 82 per cent from 975 units in the same month last year. Its cargo vehicle sales more than doubled to 1,504 units, compared with 748 units, while passenger vehicle sales rose 19 per cent to 269 units.

SML Mahindra reported sales of 1,065 vehicles during the month, marginally higher than 1,059 units in October 2025. While cargo vehicle sales increased 5 per cent to 532 units, passenger vehicle sales declined 3 per cent to 533 units.

Commenting on the performance, Vinod Sahay, Executive Chairman, SML, and President, Aerospace, Advanced Technologies, Trucks, Buses and Construction Equipment, M&M, said October sustained the strong momentum built during the second quarter, supported by festive season demand, healthy freight movement and continued infrastructure-led activity across key sectors.

He added that while rising commodity and input costs require close monitoring, underlying demand drivers, including infrastructure investments, vehicle replacement demand and broader economic activity, provide confidence in the outlook for the coming months.
