Mumbai: Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles on Wednesday reported an 83.3 per cent year-on-year jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 2,560 crore for the first quarter of 2026-27.

The company had reported a net profit of Rs 1,397 crore in the April-June quarter of the previous fiscal.
Consolidated revenue from operations rose nearly 20 per cent to Rs 20,576 crore in the first quarter, from Rs 17,192 crore a year earlier. EBITDA increased 57.6 per cent to Rs 3,272 crore, while EBITDA margin expanded to 15.83 per cent from 11.98 per cent in the year-ago quarter.

Total wholesales rose 26 per cent year-on-year to 108,700 units during the quarter, with domestic and export volumes growing 26 per cent and 35 per cent, respectively.

The company’s overall domestic commercial vehicle VAHAN market share stood at 36.8 per cent in Q1 FY27, up 100 basis points sequentially. Segment-wise, its market share stood at 56.3 per cent in HCVs, 36.9 per cent in ILMCVs, 27.7 per cent in SCV pickups and 41.3 per cent in CV passenger vehicles.

On a standalone basis, Tata Motors reported a 23 per cent increase in revenue to Rs 19,329 crore. EBITDA stood at Rs 2,300 crore, up 17 per cent, while EBITDA margin was at 11.7 per cent. Profit before tax before exceptional items rose 26 per cent to Rs 2,057 crore.

The company reported a profit after tax of around Rs 1,500 crore on a standalone basis, while free cash flow stood at Rs 1,114 crore, marking an improvement of Rs 2,910 crore over the year-ago period.

Tata Motors said profitability remained resilient despite severe commodity headwinds, supported by disciplined pricing, cost efficiencies and improved operating leverage. Net cash for the domestic business stood at Rs 7,100 crore as of June 30, 2026, after dividend payout of Rs 1,473 crore during the quarter.

The automaker said it strengthened its position in electric commercial vehicles, securing more than 3,400 EV orders across segments. The eSCV segment recorded its strongest-ever performance, with electric vehicles accounting for around 10 per cent of the segment during May and June and Tata Motors commanding around 47 per cent market share in Q1.

During the quarter, the company launched the Ace Gold+ XL, Intra V40 and Intra EV, expanding its small commercial vehicle portfolio across ICE, CNG and electric powertrains. It also initiated deliveries against an Indonesia order and achieved the milestone of producing 10 lakh commercial vehicles at its Lucknow plant.

Tata Motors said regulatory approvals for its proposed Iveco acquisition were in the final stage, with the final clearance expected by the end of August. The tender offer is expected to be launched in early September and closed by early November.

The company also acquired an additional 18.1 per cent stake in Freight Tiger in May for Rs 95.66 crore, taking its total holding to around 63.6 per cent. The move is aimed at integrating FleetEdge and Freight Tiger to create an end-to-end digital ecosystem covering trucks and the wider logistics trip ecosystem.

“The commercial vehicle industry remained resilient in Q1 FY27, supported by India’s strong economic fundamentals, healthy fleet utilisation and sustained demand across key sectors,” Tata Motors Managing Director and CEO Girish Wagh said.

He said the company’s volumes grew 26 per cent year-on-year, driven by its product portfolio, focused market interventions and disciplined execution.

CFO GV Ramanan said the company delivered healthy growth in revenue and profitability despite severe commodity headwinds and geopolitical tensions.

“We remain confident in our ability to navigate the environment through operational efficiencies, pricing discipline and proactive supply chain management to deliver resilient margins and profitable growth,” he said.

Tata Motors said its consolidated EBITDA stood at Rs 2,300 crore on the reported basis in Q1 FY27, while consolidated revenue was Rs 20,667 crore, up 19 per cent year-on-year.
