Ashok Leyland July vehicle sales rise 30% on strong truck demand

Chennai: Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland on Monday reported a 30 per cent year-on-year increase in total vehicle sales, including exports, to 19,590 units in July 2026, driven by robust growth in the medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) truck segment.

The company had sold 15,064 units in July 2025. Domestic sales rose 33 per cent to 17,980 units last month from 13,501 units in the corresponding month a year ago.

Sales of M&HCV trucks in the domestic market increased 43 per cent to 9,323 units in July 2026, compared with 6,518 units in the year-ago period. Domestic M&HCV bus sales, however, grew 6 per cent to 1,727 units from 1,627 units.

Total domestic M&HCV sales stood at 11,050 units in July, up 36 per cent from 8,145 units a year earlier. Domestic light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales also registered a strong 29 per cent growth at 6,930 units against 5,356 units in July 2025.

Including exports, M&HCV truck sales rose 47 per cent to 9,809 units from 6,667 units in the same month last year. M&HCV bus sales declined 14 per cent to 2,461 units from 2,862 units.

Total M&HCV sales, including exports, increased 29 per cent to 12,270 units in July 2026, compared with 9,529 units in the corresponding month last year. LCV sales rose 32 per cent to 7,320 units from 5,535 units.

For the April-July period of FY27, the company’s total vehicle sales, including exports, increased 15 per cent to 68,353 units from 59,302 units in the year-ago period. Domestic sales during the four-month period rose 17 per cent to 64,282 units from 54,728 units.
