Chennai: Wheels India Ltd reported a 40 per cent rise in standalone net profit to ₹37.04 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, aided by robust demand in the domestic automotive market and higher exports.

The city-based automotive components manufacturer posted revenue from operations of ₹1,380.43 crore during the April-June quarter of FY27, up 16.8 per cent from ₹1,182.87 crore in the corresponding period last year.

On a consolidated basis, revenue rose 17.8 per cent to ₹1,491 crore, while net profit increased 27.3 per cent to ₹38.94 crore from ₹30.59 crore a year earlier.

Chairman and Managing Director Srivats Ram said the company benefited from sustained demand in passenger vehicles, trucks and agricultural tractors following GST 2.0 reforms, while exports also registered healthy growth.

“Our sales grew in line with the positive momentum witnessed in the domestic markets for passenger vehicles, trucks and agricultural tractors. We also recorded strong growth in exports of construction equipment wheels, which supported our overall performance during the quarter,” Ram said.

He, however, noted that higher raw material costs arising from the geopolitical situation in West Asia continued to exert inflationary pressure on operations.

Despite the increase in input costs, the company improved profitability through higher volumes, operational efficiencies and a favourable product mix, he added.

Export revenue during the quarter rose 17.3 per cent to ₹380 crore from ₹324 crore in the year-ago period, supported by higher shipments of construction equipment wheels.

The company’s automotive components business remained the largest contributor to revenue, while the industrial components segment also posted healthy growth during the quarter.

The Board of Directors approved the unaudited standalone and consolidated financial results for the quarter at its meeting held on July 27.

Ram expressed confidence that the growth momentum would continue in the second quarter, supported by stable domestic demand and sustained export opportunities.

Wheels India operates manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Andhra Pradesh. The company manufactures wheels for trucks, passenger vehicles, agricultural tractors and construction equipment, besides air suspension systems for trucks and buses and industrial components for the construction and wind energy sectors.
