Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd on Tuesday reported a 47 per cent year-on-year growth in sales of its Trucks and Buses business at 2,495 vehicles in August 2026, including exports.

The Trucks and Buses business, comprising Mahindra Truck & Bus Division (MTBD) and SML Mahindra Limited, had sold 1,701 vehicles in August 2025.

Cargo vehicle sales across MTBD and SML rose 55 per cent to 1,532 units in August from 989 units a year earlier, while passenger vehicle sales increased 35 per cent to 963 units from 712 units.

“The truck and bus segment continues to be supported by higher infrastructure spending, rising freight demand, and replacement demand, while facing challenges on rising input and fuel costs,” Vinod Sahay, Executive Chairman, SML, and President, Aerospace, Advanced Technologies, Trucks, Buses & CE, M&M, said.

He said volumes were muted in August 2025 due to anticipated GST changes and, therefore, the growth this month also reflected the low base of last year.

During the month, Mahindra Truck & Bus Division launched the all-new Mahindra BLAZO i-TRK, strengthening its heavy commercial vehicles portfolio.

The company said the new truck, developed around the “Profit Ka Rocket” philosophy, offers up to 10 per cent higher fuel efficiency and a 48-hour uptime guarantee backed by an assurance of Rs 10,000 per day.

MTBD alone sold 1,320 vehicles in August, up 54 per cent from 859 units in the year-ago month. Its cargo vehicle sales rose 56 per cent to 1,040 units, while passenger vehicle sales increased 47 per cent to 280 units.

SML Mahindra reported total sales of 1,175 vehicles in August, registering a 40 per cent growth over 842 units sold in August 2025. Its cargo vehicle sales increased 53 per cent to 492 units, while passenger vehicle sales rose 31 per cent to 683 units.

During April-August 2026, the combined Trucks and Buses business sold 14,893 vehicles, a 17 per cent increase over 12,684 units in the corresponding period last year.

MTBD sales during the five-month period rose 22 per cent to 6,677 units, while SML Mahindra recorded a 14 per cent growth at 8,216 units.
