New Delhi: Japanese auto components maker Toyoda Gosei Co Ltd will invest around Rs 575.8 crore to establish a new manufacturing plant in Maharashtra’s Bidkin Industrial Area, with operations scheduled to commence in the first half of 2029.
The new facility will manufacture large automotive interior and exterior components, including bumpers and instrument panels, to cater to the growing Indian automobile market and increasing production capacity of Japanese automakers, the company said in a statement.
The plant will be set up as a branch facility of Toyoda Gosei South India Pvt Ltd and will become the group’s eighth location in India.
Spread over approximately 78,400 square metres of land, the facility will have around 29,200 square metres of built-up area.
Besides bumpers and instrument panels, the plant will produce safety systems such as airbags and steering wheels, as well as functional components including plastic fuel filler pipes.
Toyoda Gosei said the facility will incorporate large electric injection moulding machines, a high-end bumper painting booth and automated guided vehicles. It will also deploy IoT and digital transformation-based production management systems, along with smart automated processes combining collaborative robots and traditional Japanese “karakuri” technology.
The company expects the plant to employ around 570 people by 2030.
Toyoda Gosei said India’s automobile market is witnessing growing demand not only for compact cars but also for SUVs, making the country a key market for the company.
The investment in the new facility is approximately Rs 575.8 crore, equivalent to around JPY 9.3 billion based on an exchange rate of Rs 1 to JPY 1.7 as of August 31, 2026.
The company said the new plant will strengthen its development and production network in India and contribute to safer and more comfortable mobility.
