Ashok Leyland sales jump 38 pc to 21,038 units in August

Chennai: Hinduja Group flagship Ashok Leyland on Tuesday reported a 38 per cent year-on-year increase in total vehicle sales, including exports, at 21,038 units in August 2026, compared with 15,239 units in the same month last year.

Domestic sales rose 43 per cent to 19,438 units in August 2026 from 13,622 units a year earlier, according to the company’s sales data.

The company’s medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales in the domestic market increased 55 per cent to 12,408 units from 7,991 units in August 2025.

M&HCV truck sales surged 60 per cent to 10,285 units from 6,426 units, while M&HCV bus sales rose 36 per cent to 2,123 units from 1,565 units during the month.

Light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales in the domestic market grew 25 per cent to 7,030 units from 5,631 units in August 2025.

Including exports, M&HCV sales increased 46 per cent to 13,719 units in August 2026 from 9,381 units a year earlier. M&HCV truck sales rose 60 per cent to 10,748 units, while bus sales increased 12 per cent to 2,971 units.

LCV sales, including exports, grew 25 per cent to 7,319 units from 5,858 units in August 2025.

For the April-August period of FY27, total vehicle sales including exports increased 20 per cent to 89,391 units from 74,541 units in the year-ago period.

Domestic cumulative sales rose 22 per cent to 83,720 units during the period from 68,350 units a year earlier.
