Pune: EKA Mobility, a leading Indian electric commercial vehicle manufacturer and a Champion OEM under the Government of India’s Auto PLI Scheme, on Thursday announced the appointment of Mr. Prashant Kumar Banerjee as Group Head – Government & Corporate Affairs.

Mr. Banerjee will lead the Group’s Government Relations, Corporate Affairs, Public Policy and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) functions. He will drive stakeholder engagement, policy advocacy and strategic partnerships while working closely with government bodies, industry associations and key stakeholders to support the Group’s long-term growth and sustainability objectives.

Commenting on the appointment, Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Founder & Chairman, EKA Mobility, said, “Prashant’s industry, policy and regulatory expertise is a unique combination that will be a great asset to EKA Mobility as it strengthens our leadership in the mobility sector. His deep understanding of the automotive ecosystem, coupled with his extensive engagement with national and international stakeholders, will help us build globally competitive and sustainable mobility solutions. We are happy to have him join the EKA family.”

Mr. Banerjee brings over 36 years of experience in the automotive industry, having held leadership positions with globally renowned organisations including Tata Motors, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), Daewoo Motors, Toyota and IIT Bombay. Most recently, as Executive Director at the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), he played a pivotal role in shaping automotive regulations, industry standards and policy advocacy for the Indian automobile industry.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Prashant Kumar Banerjee said, “The mobility sector is undergoing a profound transformation driven by electrification, sustainability and technological innovation. EKA Mobility has emerged as a pioneering force in India’s clean mobility ecosystem with a strong vision for future-ready transportation solutions. I look forward to working with policymakers, industry stakeholders and partners to support the Company’s growth journey and contribute to India’s sustainable mobility ambitions.”

A Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), UK, and an alumnus of IIT Bombay, Mr. Banerjee has built a distinguished career spanning automotive engineering, product development, regulations and global policy. Since 2003, he has represented India at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) WP.29 forums, and, on behalf of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, chairs India’s GRSG contributing to the development of vehicle construction regulations, with particular emphasis on electric and hydrogen mobility.

In recognition of his contributions to sustainable transportation and bioenergy, Mr. Banerjee was conferred Brazil’s prestigious Order of Rio Branco, one of the country’s highest civilian honours.

His appointment further strengthens EKA Mobility’s commitment to bolster its leadership team as it accelerates the development of next-generation electric mobility solutions and expands its footprint across India’s rapidly evolving commercial EV ecosystem.
