Mumbai: Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd on Monday reported a 42 per cent year-on-year increase in total sales at 59,790 units in May 2026, driven by strong demand across domestic and international markets and continued momentum in electric vehicles.

The company had sold 42,040 units in the corresponding month last year.
Domestic sales rose 42 per cent to 59,090 units in May 2026 from 41,557 units a year earlier, while international business sales increased 45 per cent to 700 units from 483 units.

Electric vehicle sales, including domestic and international volumes, surged 85 per cent to 10,517 units during the month compared with 5,685 units in the year-ago period.

The company said the strong performance reflects sustained demand momentum, with wholesale volumes showing robust double-digit growth. It also noted that vehicle registration data (VAHAN) indicated over 50 per cent year-on-year growth, strengthening its position as the second-largest player in the passenger vehicle segment.

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles said its electric mobility business continued to expand its leadership in the Indian EV market, supported by new product traction and rising consumer adoption.
