Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd on Monday said its Trucks & Buses business, comprising Mahindra Trucks & Buses Division (MTBD) and SML Mahindra Ltd, reported an 18 per cent increase in sales at 3,129 units in May 2026.
The business had sold 2,643 vehicles in the corresponding month last year. Cargo vehicle sales were largely flat at 1,153 units compared with 1,148 units a year ago, while passenger vehicle sales rose 32 per cent to 1,976 units from 1,495 units.
Mahindra Trucks & Buses Division reported a 24 per cent rise in sales to 1,362 units, while SML Mahindra posted a 15 per cent increase in sales at 1,767 units during the month.
Mahindra & Mahindra Executive Chairman-SML and President-Aerospace, Advanced Technologies, Trucks, Buses and Construction Equipment Vinod Sahay said the commercial vehicle industry continues to face near-term headwinds due to elevated input costs and higher diesel prices amid geopolitical uncertainties.
He said the industry is witnessing signs of moderation in the short to medium term, although infrastructure spending and replacement demand remain supportive for long-term growth.
