New Delhi: Tata AutoComp Systems on Thursday said it has entered into a joint venture with South Korea-based Jahwa Electronics to manufacture and supply advanced low-voltage and high-voltage PTC heaters for electric and hybrid vehicles in India.
The partnership aims to localise production of critical thermal management components and cater to rising demand from domestic and global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) investing in electric mobility platforms.
The company said the joint venture would position India as a strategic manufacturing hub for Jahwa Electronics by leveraging Tata AutoComp’s established manufacturing ecosystem and strong presence in the automotive supply chain.
PTC heaters are key thermal components used in electric and hybrid vehicles for cabin heating and battery thermal management applications.
Jahwa Electronics Chief Executive Officer Chanyong Kim said India’s electric and hybrid vehicle market is witnessing rapid expansion as automakers accelerate investments in electrification.
“With domestic automakers and global OEMs aggressively scaling investments in electrification, India’s electric and hybrid vehicle markets are expanding rapidly. This is a critical juncture for us to establish a firm market entry foundation as a key supplier of both high-voltage and low-voltage PTCs,” Kim said.
He added that the collaboration with Tata AutoComp was a strategic move that would help the company secure a stable foothold and drive long-term growth in the region.
Tata AutoComp Vice Chairman Arvind Goel said the partnership would help bring advanced and sustainable automotive technologies to India’s evolving mobility landscape.
“Our collaboration with Jahwa Electronics strengthens our ability to introduce innovative and sustainable mobility solutions in India and support the transition towards electrified transportation,” Goel said.
Tata AutoComp Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Manoj Kolhatkar said Jahwa Electronics’ technological capabilities complement the company’s manufacturing strengths and would help deliver high-performance thermal solutions for the EV segment.
Tata AutoComp, part of the Tata Group, manufactures automotive components across multiple vehicle categories and has a dedicated electric mobility business focused on battery systems, drivetrains, thermal solutions and power electronics.
Founded in 1981, Jahwa Electronics specialises in precision components for mobility, consumer electronics and industrial applications, with manufacturing operations in South Korea, Vietnam, China and India.
