New Delhi: Hero MotoCorp Ltd. on Monday announced the appointment of Sachin Agrawal as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective May 21, 2026, as the company sharpens focus on research and development transformation and next-generation mobility solutions.

In his new role, Agrawal will lead the company’s R&D transformation across the Hero Centre for Innovation and Technology (CIT) and the Hero Tech Centre Germany (TCG), driving innovation in areas such as electrification, alternative fuels and advanced mobility technologies.

Commenting on the appointment, Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman of Hero MotoCorp, said Agrawal’s deep expertise in mobility technologies and proven track record in driving innovation at scale make him well-suited to lead the company’s technology vision and R&D organisation.

Agrawal brings over 29 years of experience in automotive research and development and technology leadership, with expertise spanning product development, powertrain engineering, electric mobility and digital technologies.

Prior to joining Hero MotoCorp, he served as Executive Vice President and Head of R&D and Technology at VE Commercial Vehicles, a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, where he led a global engineering organisation and was associated with several innovations in the commercial vehicle space.

He began his career with Daewoo Motors and contributed to the design of the Matiz chassis system in South Korea.

Over the course of his career, Agrawal has worked across multiple propulsion technologies including diesel, CNG, electric and hydrogen platforms, and has been involved in connected mobility, artificial intelligence and software-defined vehicle ecosystems.

He has also served as Chairperson of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) Frontier Technology and Innovation Group and led the Volvo Group’s Global Centre of Excellence for Medium Duty Engine Development.

An alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and a Leadership Fellow from Carnegie Mellon University, Agrawal is known for building high-performing teams and driving large-scale technology initiatives.

The appointment is part of Hero MotoCorp’s broader strategy to strengthen its leadership capabilities and accelerate its transition towards future-ready mobility solutions, with a focus on innovation, sustainability and technology-led growth.
