New Delhi: Vietnamese mobility company Green SM on Friday entered the Indian ride-hailing market with the launch of its all-electric taxi service, Green SM Limo, in the Delhi-NCR region, marking a significant step in the growing adoption of sustainable urban mobility solutions in the country.
Backed by Vietnam’s Vingroup, the parent company of electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast, Green SM will compete with established ride-hailing platforms such as Ola, Uber and Rapido in one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing mobility markets.
The company formally launched its services on World Environment Day, making India its fifth international market after Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia and the Philippines.
The launch event in New Delhi was attended by Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Commission for Air Quality Management Vice President Dr Virinder Sharma, representatives from Indian government agencies, the Vietnamese Embassy, and stakeholders from the automotive, transportation, technology, finance, energy and infrastructure sectors.
Green SM said its entry into India aligns with its broader vision of promoting environmentally friendly transportation and making cleaner mobility an integral part of daily urban life. The company aims to provide customers with a safe, reliable and premium mobility experience while generating employment opportunities for local drivers and supporting sustainable development goals.
In the initial phase, Green SM Limo will operate across key locations in the Delhi-NCR region, with plans to gradually expand its footprint based on market demand.
The service will be powered by the VinFast Limo Green, a fully electric seven-seater SUV specifically designed for passenger transportation services. The vehicle is aimed at serving a variety of travel requirements, including daily commuting, airport transfers, family travel and business transportation.

According to the company, the electric SUV features a spacious cabin, smooth driving performance and zero tailpipe emissions. Passengers will also have access to amenities such as drinking water, wet tissues and other comfort-focused services during their journeys.
To enhance passenger safety, the vehicles are equipped with the company’s Secure-to-Safe system, which includes interior and exterior cameras, artificial intelligence-powered monitoring technology and emergency assistance buttons for both passengers and drivers.
Green SM said its fleet will be operated by professionally trained “Green Drivers” who undergo specialised training in electric vehicle operations, customer service and road safety. The company said its service philosophy is built around safety, professionalism, honesty and responsibility.
The company has introduced its global “Ride 5 Star” service commitment in India, focusing on vehicle quality, safety standards, customer experience and driver professionalism.
Customers can book rides through the Green SM mobile application available on Android and iOS platforms, contact the company’s customer support hotline or hail vehicles directly from operating locations.
To mark the launch, the company announced a promotional offer providing customers with a discount of 50 per cent, up to Rs 250, on rides booked through the application between June 5 and June 11.
As part of its India debut, Green SM also inducted five local companies from the mobility, travel, technology and services sectors into the Green Alliance Frontier, a global platform that brings together businesses committed to sustainable development and green transformation initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Green SM Global Chief Executive Officer Nguyen Van Thanh described India as one of the most important mobility markets globally, citing its scale, rapid economic growth and increasing openness to innovation.
“We come to India with respect for the market, confidence in its long-term potential, and a commitment to working closely with local partners. Green SM hopes to bring high-quality fully electric rides to customers while contributing to broader access to safe, reliable and sustainable mobility choices,” Thanh said.
Founded in Vietnam in 2023, Green SM currently operates a fully electric mobility ecosystem across five countries. The company said it plans to leverage its international experience and standardised operating model to strengthen its presence in India and contribute to the country’s transition towards cleaner transportation solutions.
The company’s entry comes at a time when India’s electric mobility sector is witnessing rapid growth, supported by government initiatives, rising environmental awareness and increasing consumer acceptance of electric vehicles across passenger and commercial transportation segments.
