Mumbai: Tata Motors on Monday reported a 17 per cent year-on-year increase in total commercial vehicle sales to 32,850 units in May 2026, driven by strong growth in domestic demand across key segments.
The company had sold 28,147 commercial vehicles in the domestic and international markets in May 2025.
Domestic sales rose 19 per cent to 30,784 units last month from 25,872 units a year earlier, while international business sales declined 9 per cent to 2,066 units from 2,275 units.
Sales of heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) trucks increased 11 per cent to 7,877 units in May 2026, compared with 7,106 units in the corresponding month last year.
Intermediate, light and medium commercial vehicle (ILMCV) truck sales grew 8 per cent to 5,331 units from 4,954 units, while passenger carrier sales rose 21 per cent to 5,757 units from 4,748 units.
Sales of small commercial vehicle cargo and pickup models registered the strongest growth, rising 30 per cent to 11,819 units from 9,064 units in May 2025.
Domestic sales of medium and heavy intermediate commercial vehicles (MH&ICV) stood at 13,679 units, up 10 per cent from 12,406 units a year ago.
Including international markets, MH&ICV sales increased 7 per cent to 14,596 units in May 2026 from 13,614 units in the year-ago period.
