New Delhi: JK Tyre & Industries Ltd., one of India’s leading tyre manufacturers and a global player in mobility solutions, celebrated World Manufacturing Day by spotlighting its achievements in safety, sustainability and process excellence that have placed the company among the most recognized names in the sector.
The company’s ‘Safety First’ philosophy has not only guided its operations but also earned it international accolades. All of JK Tyre’s manufacturing units in India and Mexico have secured the Five-Star Safety Rating from the British Safety Council, a distinction that paved the way for the coveted Sword of Honour being awarded to each site. This achievement puts JK Tyre in an elite global league of companies commended for exemplary workplace health and safety practices. The company said the recognition underscores its relentless focus on employee welfare and operational rigor.
JK Tyre’s environmental commitment has also been validated globally. Its Chennai and Mysuru facilities were conferred with the Globe of Honour by the British Safety Council for outstanding leadership in environmental management. The award reflects the company’s sustained efforts in resource stewardship, risk management, and community engagement.
Further, JK Tyre became the first tyre manufacturer in India to publish Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for three of its products, representing its Vikrant, Cavendish and Chennai plants. These EPDs, based on transparent and third-party verified lifecycle data, enable customers to make informed choices and highlight the company’s pioneering role in sustainable manufacturing practices.
Aligned with its Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) commitments, JK Tyre is working to reduce carbon intensity by 50 percent by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Its Chennai facility has already secured ISCC Plus certification, ensuring the use of traceable, responsibly sourced renewable and recycled materials, reinforcing the company’s shift towards circular and green manufacturing.
Reflecting on the company’s journey, Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director of JK Tyre & Industries Ltd., said, “Our founding values of safety, sustainability and care drive every decision we make. The recognition by the British Safety Council and our global certifications stand as testament to our dedication to excellence and our responsibility to people, our planet and progress. As JK Tyre grows globally, we set benchmarks for the entire manufacturing sector.”
Through its integrated ‘5P Strategy’—People, Product, Process, Planet and Profit—the company continues to drive innovation in technology, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. On World Manufacturing Day, JK Tyre reaffirmed its role as a leader in setting new benchmarks for responsible manufacturing and sustainable mobility.
