Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Monday visited the Renault-Nissan automobile manufacturing facility in neighbouring Kancheepuram district, where he reviewed vehicle production operations and later assessed the progress of infrastructure works at the Oragadam SIPCOT industrial park project office.

The visit formed part of the Chief Minister’s review of key industrial and infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening Tamil Nadu’s position as a leading automobile and manufacturing hub.

At the Renault-Nissan plant located in the Oragadam SIPCOT industrial cluster, Vijay toured various sections of the manufacturing facility and inspected the assembly lines responsible for vehicle production, including spare parts integration and quality assurance operations.

Company officials briefed the Chief Minister on the plant’s manufacturing processes, production standards and quality control systems adopted to ensure global benchmarks in vehicle manufacturing.

Stéphane Deblaise, CEO of Renault Group India, accompanied the Chief Minister during the plant tour and test drive, along with other senior company executives, who provided an overview of the facility’s operations and manufacturing capabilities.

Following his visit to the automobile plant, the Chief Minister proceeded to the Oragadam SIPCOT project office, where he reviewed the progress of ongoing infrastructure development works within the industrial park.

Officials briefed Vijay on the status of infrastructure projects being implemented to enhance industrial connectivity and support the expansion of manufacturing activities in the Oragadam industrial corridor, one of Tamil Nadu’s largest automobile and engineering hubs.

Senior officials of the Tamil Nadu government, representatives of Renault Group India and officials of SIPCOT were present during the visit.
