Mumbai: NRB Bearings Ltd on Friday said it has completed the acquisition of the business of Mahant Tool Room (MTR) through its wholly owned subsidiary, Mahant Tool Room Pvt Ltd (MTRPL), marking its entry into the global aerospace and defence components segment.

The company also said MTRPL has secured the AS9100D certification for precision machined components and bearings for aerospace and defence, a globally recognised quality standard for the aviation industry.

According to the company, the acquisition will expand its presence beyond automotive and industrial businesses into the global aerospace market, estimated at USD 14.5 billion to USD 16.5 billion for critical components such as landing gear parts, fuel injection systems, emergency door components and plain spherical bearings.

NRB said the acquisition follows its recently announced industrial bearings and friction solutions joint venture and is aligned with its plan to double consolidated revenue by 2031. The company added that it will leverage its existing research and development capabilities and relationships with global automotive original equipment manufacturers to pursue opportunities in commercial aerospace and defence.

Vice Chairperson and Managing Director Harshbeena Zaveri said the acquisition and the AS9100D certification represent a significant milestone in the company’s strategic expansion and would enable it to offer mission-critical precision components and aerospace bearings to global aerospace and defence companies. She said NRB is the only Indian company offering such advanced bearings to the global aerospace industry.
