Chennai: Montra Electric, the clean mobility brand of the diversified Murugappa Group, on Wednesday announced the rollout of its 1,000th EVIATOR electric small commercial vehicle (eSCV) from its manufacturing facility in Ponneri, Chennai, marking a key milestone in its journey to scale electric cargo mobility in India.

The milestone comes amid a steady shift towards electrification in the commercial vehicle ecosystem, with growing adoption across e-commerce, FMCG, and last-mile delivery operations. It also follows the recent expansion of the EVIATOR portfolio with the launch of EVIATOR 350 (32 kWh) and EVIATOR 350L+ (50 kWh) variants, further strengthening Montra Electric’s presence in the fast-growing eSCV segment.

Engineered for high-utilisation urban logistics, the EVIATOR platform is built to deliver consistent performance, higher uptime, and improved operating economics. The vehicle offers a payload capacity of 1.7 tonnes and a 10.3 ft loading deck, enabling efficient movement of high-volume cargo across intra-city routes.

Powered by a liquid-cooled Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, the EVIATOR delivers a real-world driving range of over 170+ km, making it suitable for intensive daily operations. It supports CCS2 DC fast charging, enabling up to 80% charge in approximately 60 minutes. With a top speed of 80 kmph, the vehicle is optimised for time-sensitive logistics use cases.

Mr. Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director, Montra Electric (TICMPL), said, “The rollout of our 1,000th EVIATOR marks a significant milestone in our scale-up journey and reflects the growing confidence in electric small commercial vehicles within mainstream logistics. What makes this achievement meaningful is its foundation in real-world deployment across diverse duty cycles. This reinforces our focus on building solutions that combine robust technology with practical operational relevance, enabling higher uptime and stronger returns for our customers.”

Mr. Saju Nair, CEO, Montra Electric (e-SCV), added, “The 1,000-vehicle milestone is a strong validation of the EVIATOR platform’s reliability and performance in demanding logistics environments. With our expanded product range, we are well-positioned to address varied customer needs while supporting fleet operators with solutions that enhance utilisation, efficiency, and total cost of ownership.”

With a starting price of ₹14.58 lakh (Introductory ex-showroom price), the Montra Electric EVIATOR offers a technology-led, scalable solution for businesses transitioning towards electric fleets.
