Itanagar: In a major boost to green mobility and sustainable public transportation in India, EKA Mobility, a leading electric vehicle and technology company, marked a key milestone with the flag-off of its electric buses in Arunachal Pradesh. The ceremony was held on the occasion of World Environment Day and was presided over by the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu.

A total of 10 electric buses, manufactured and supplied by EKA Mobility, were officially inducted into the fleet of Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services (APSTS). These vehicles have been procured through a tender process facilitated by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), a government-backed agency actively promoting clean energy solutions in public transport.

The 9-meter electric AC buses are specially designed with a 900mm floor height, ensuring ease of access for passengers while maintaining optimal performance across the challenging terrain and weather conditions typical of Arunachal Pradesh. These zero-emission vehicles are tailored for intra-city operations, promising a comfortable and eco-friendly commute for the citizens of the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rohit Srivastava, Business Head & Chief Growth Officer at EKA Mobility, emphasized the company’s commitment to indigenous innovation and sustainable development. “We are honored to contribute to Arunachal Pradesh’s vision for a greener future. Our vehicles are proudly designed and manufactured in India, reflecting our commitment to sustainable indigenous innovation tailored for diverse Indian geographies,” he said.

The deployment of EKA’s electric buses in Arunachal Pradesh marks another step forward in India’s nationwide push towards cleaner, more inclusive urban transportation. With multiple Indian states already adopting electric buses as part of their public transport infrastructure, Arunachal Pradesh has now joined the growing list of regions making the transition to e-mobility.

Flagging off the electric buses on World Environment Day was symbolic of the state’s proactive approach to environmental conservation and clean technology. The initiative aligns closely with national sustainability goals and underscores the importance of collaborative efforts among governments, industry players, and energy agencies.

EKA Mobility’s latest rollout also reinforces its growing presence across India, as the company continues to offer advanced, safe, and efficient EV mobility solutions tailored to regional needs. The company reiterated its mission to support India’s green transition by delivering cutting-edge electric vehicles that blend modern technology with environmental responsibility.

As Arunachal Pradesh embraces electric public transport, the move is expected to reduce carbon emissions, lower fuel dependency, and promote a healthier urban environment, setting an example for other states to follow in the pursuit of a sustainable future.
