M&M in ‘Attack Mode’ as global uncertainty creates new growth opportunities, says Anand Mahindra

Mumbai: Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra on Thursday said the company will adopt an “Attack Mode” strategy to accelerate growth amid an increasingly uncertain global environment, asserting that both India and the diversified conglomerate have emerged stronger from the ongoing geopolitical and economic churn.

Addressing shareholders at the 80th Annual General Meeting of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, Mahindra said the world has moved from one phase of disruption to another, with uncertainty becoming the new normal as supply chains, geopolitics and business models continue to undergo structural changes.

Referring to his earlier analogy of the Samudra Manthan, he said both India and Mahindra have managed to extract “amrit” (opportunity) from the global churning despite challenges.

“India has held its own in an unpredictable world. Countries are looking for scale, stability, manufacturing capability, talent and trust, and India is increasingly being seen as a credible answer,” he said.

Highlighting India’s growing manufacturing importance, Mahindra noted that nearly a quarter of all iPhones are now manufactured in the country, reflecting India’s rising role in global supply chains.

On the company’s performance, he said Mahindra achieved record financial results during the last fiscal, strengthened its innovation capabilities and continued to invest aggressively in future technologies.

He said the company’s patents have increased from 56 to over 1,300 over the past decade, while it has announced a planned investment of Rs 15,000 crore over the next 10 years in Nagpur, signalling confidence in India’s long-term growth prospects.

Mahindra also said the company was recognised as the Outstanding Company of the Year at the India Business Leadership Awards and featured among TIME magazine’s Top 50 Companies globally.

Warning that geopolitical tensions, particularly in West Asia, have made uncertainty a permanent feature of the global economy, he said the world has entered what he described as “Manthan 2.0”.

Mahindra said India has the opportunity to emerge as a “connector economy” in a world increasingly defined by multiple strategic partnerships rather than rigid geopolitical blocs.

He said India’s strength now lies in being “multi-aligned” and serving as a trusted partner across different regions.

For Mahindra, he said, the time has come to move from “navigation to acceleration” by embracing an “Attack Mode” strategy.

Drawing an analogy from Formula E racing, Mahindra said “Attack Mode” represents strategic acceleration rather than reckless speed, allowing prepared organisations to gain an advantage even in uncertain conditions.

“As the mist of uncertainty billows around us, we will not wait for perfect visibility. We will accelerate through the fog, confident in the strength of our vision, the clarity of our strategy, and the effectiveness of our execution,” he said.
