New Delhi: VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) on Monday reported a 7.8 per cent year-on-year increase in total sales to 7,978 units in May 2026, driven by robust growth in its domestic truck business.

The company had sold 7,401 units in May 2025. Sales of Eicher trucks and buses, including electric vehicles, rose 7.3 per cent to 7,789 units last month from 7,258 units in the year-ago period.

Domestic sales increased 9.1 per cent to 7,375 units compared with 6,758 units in May 2025, led by strong demand for small commercial vehicles and light and medium-duty trucks.

Sales of Eicher SCV and LMD trucks rose 16.1 per cent to 3,757 units, while heavy-duty truck sales increased 7.9 per cent to 1,620 units.

Light and medium-duty bus sales remained largely flat at 1,886 units, while heavy-duty bus sales declined 17.6 per cent to 112 units.

Exports fell 17.2 per cent to 414 units from 500 units a year earlier, impacted by lower shipments of buses and light and medium-duty vehicles.

Volvo Trucks and Buses sales, however, grew 32.2 per cent to 189 units in May 2026 from 143 units in the corresponding month last year.

For the first two months of FY27, VECV reported total sales of 15,296 units, up 7.4 per cent from 14,247 units in the same period of the previous financial year.
