Mumbai: Bajaj Auto Ltd reported a robust performance in January 2026, posting a 25 percent year-on-year rise in total vehicle sales, driven by strong export demand across both two-wheelers and commercial vehicles.
The Pune-based automaker sold a total of 4,77,422 vehicles during the month, compared with 3,81,040 units in January 2025. Growth was broad-based, with exports continuing to be a key growth engine even as domestic demand showed healthy traction.
In the two-wheeler segment, Bajaj Auto recorded total sales of 4,06,295 units in January, up 24 percent from a year earlier. Domestic two-wheeler sales rose sharply by 25 percent to 2,14,727 units, reflecting steady demand in the home market. Exports also remained strong, increasing 22 percent to 1,91,568 units, underscoring the company’s expanding footprint in overseas markets.
Commercial vehicle sales saw an even stronger momentum. Total CV volumes jumped 35 percent year-on-year to 71,127 units. Domestic CV sales grew 27 percent to 47,248 units, while exports surged 53 percent to 23,879 units, highlighting buoyant demand in international markets and improved supply conditions.
Overall domestic sales across two-wheelers and commercial vehicles stood at 2,61,975 units in January, marking a 26 percent increase compared with the same month last year. Export volumes rose 25 percent to 2,15,447 units, reinforcing Bajaj Auto’s position as one of India’s leading vehicle exporters.
For the year-to-date period from April to January 2026, the company sold 42,24,031 vehicles, up 8 percent from 39,29,072 units in the corresponding period of the previous year. While domestic volumes were largely flat, declining marginally by 1 percent to 23,68,613 units, exports climbed a healthy 20 percent to 18,55,418 units.
Within the YTD performance, two-wheeler exports grew 16 percent, while commercial vehicle exports rose sharply by 53 percent, offsetting relatively subdued domestic trends and supporting overall growth.
The January numbers highlight Bajaj Auto’s continued reliance on exports to drive growth, even as it maintains a steady recovery in domestic sales amid improving market conditions.
