New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has set its sights on achieving its next million-vehicle sales milestone earlier than anticipated, as revival in the small-car segment, a stronger SUV portfolio, capacity expansion and robust exports create fresh momentum for growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In its Annual Integrated Report for 2025-26, themed “The Next Million, New Momentum”, the country’s largest carmaker said it registered its highest-ever annual sales of 24.22 lakh vehicles and record exports of 4.47 lakh units during the fiscal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company crossed the two-million-vehicle annual sales mark for the third consecutive year in FY26 and said multiple growth drivers are now operating simultaneously to support its next phase of expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maruti Suzuki Chairman R C Bhargava said recent GST reforms have provided a new impetus to the automobile industry and several other sectors of the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company is currently estimating that India’s car market could grow to 6.1-6.3 million units by FY31, with the small-car segment expected to grow significantly faster than it did over the past five years, Bhargava said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the clean-energy front, Bhargava said Maruti Suzuki plans to begin four biogas plants in the first phase at a cost of Rs 561 crore as part of its efforts to support India’s net-zero journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company believes biogas can be generated from locally available resources and could provide a clean and renewable fuel source while reducing dependence on imported CNG, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said the company accelerated its capacity expansion plans in line with its confidence in the medium-term outlook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During FY27, Maruti Suzuki added 5 lakh units of manufacturing capacity, he said. The company also plans to introduce seven SUVs over the next five to six years to further strengthen its presence in the segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Takeuchi said the company’s next million vehicle sales represent more than a volume milestone and would contribute to wider access to mobility, stronger manufacturing capabilities, greater adoption of cleaner technologies, deeper localisation and broader value creation for society.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
