New Delhi: Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has emerged as the world’s most innovative automotive company in the Automotive INNOVATIONS Report 2026 published by Germany-based Center of Automotive Management (CAM), becoming the first Chinese automaker to secure the top position since the study was launched in 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the report, BYD achieved an innovation index score of 157.2 points, overtaking last year’s leader Volkswagen Group, which ranked second with 143.1 points. Mercedes-Benz Group secured the third position with 134.2 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ranking evaluates the innovation performance of global automotive manufacturers based on technological advancements and market-relevant developments. BYD’s leadership in the 2026 edition underscores the company’s growing influence in electric mobility, battery technology and intelligent vehicle systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other automakers featured in the top 10 list include XPeng, BMW, Geely, Renault, Toyota Motor Corporation, General Motors and Hyundai Motor Company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
