{"id":4320,"date":"2026-05-26T10:57:40","date_gmt":"2026-05-26T10:57:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/automobilitymag.com\/?p=4320"},"modified":"2026-05-26T10:57:41","modified_gmt":"2026-05-26T10:57:41","slug":"volvo-rolls-out-fmx-edge-mining-dump-truck-in-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/automobilitymag.com\/index.php\/2026\/05\/26\/volvo-rolls-out-fmx-edge-mining-dump-truck-in-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Volvo rolls out FMX Edge mining dump truck in India"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Staff Writer<br>Bengaluru: Swedish commercial vehicle maker Volvo Trucks on Tuesday launched the Volvo FMX Edge, an off-road dump truck developed for mining operations in India, as the company looks to strengthen its position in the country\u2019s mining and heavy commercial vehicle segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The truck was unveiled at Volvo\u2019s manufacturing facility in Hoskote near Bengaluru in the presence of mining customers and senior executives from Volvo Trucks, VE Commercial Vehicles and Volvo Construction Equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The launch comes at a time when mining operations in India are increasingly shifting towards larger excavators, higher productivity targets and greater emphasis on safety, fuel efficiency and lifecycle performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Volvo FMX Edge has been developed on the company\u2019s existing FMX platform, which has established a presence in Indian mining operations over the last five years. According to the company, more than 3,000 Volvo FMX500 8&#215;4 trucks are currently operating across mining sites in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The newly launched truck features a 31.2 cubic metre SAE heap body capacity along with a 2.8-metre-wide body configuration aimed at improving compatibility with high-capacity excavators and increasing cycle productivity in overburden movement applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company said the vehicle has been designed using customer feedback and validated under Indian mining operating conditions. Speaking at the launch, Per-Erik Lindstr\u00f6m said India remains a key market for the Volvo Group\u2019s future growth plans. \u201cIndia is a cornerstone for Volvo Group\u2019s future and an increasingly important market for Volvo Trucks. The launch of Volvo FMX Edge reflects our commitment to Indian customers and to solutions designed around real operating needs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that the truck combines Volvo\u2019s global expertise with requirements specific to Indian mining operations. B Srinivas said the product has been engineered around customer expectations related to productivity, uptime, efficiency and lifecycle value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cVolvo Trucks has earned the trust of Indian mining customers over nearly three decades by delivering solutions that perform in real operating conditions.
