As the company prepares to introduce the e Vitara, its first electric offering, it has stitched together one of the country’s most extensive EV charging networks through collaborations with 13 charge point operators and aggregators.

The initiative, branded as “One India, One EV Charging Platform,” aims to streamline the EV ownership experience by integrating discovery, charging and payments in one place. The company has already set up more than 2,000 exclusive charging points across its dealer network in over 1,100 cities. This footprint is further strengthened by partner-operated charging stations nationwide, giving customers access to a large and growing network. In line with Suzuki Motor Corporation’s global vision, Maruti Suzuki aims to help enable more than 100,000 public charging points across India by 2030.

Announcing the milestone, Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi described the move as a historic moment for the company. He said Maruti Suzuki’s objective is to offer its EV customers a smooth, reliable and convenient charging experience from the start. He highlighted the company’s dealer-based charging network, its new partnerships with CPOs and its long-term plan to scale the public charging landscape across the country.

Senior Executive Officer for Marketing and Sales Partho Banerjee called the launch the beginning of a new phase for electric mobility in India. He said the company’s top priority is to support customers with robust charging access, noting that EV points will be available every five to ten kilometres across major areas of the top 100 cities. He added that DC fast chargers have been placed along key national highways to enable long-distance travel. To back this rollout, Maruti Suzuki has prepared a workforce of 1.5 lakh trained personnel and activated more than 1,500 EV-ready workshops.

To demonstrate the readiness of its network, the company has flagged off a nationwide “e drive,” sending four e Vitara Born EVs from Gurugram to the country’s northern, southern, eastern and western extremes. The drive will pass through Srinagar, Kanyakumari, Dibrugarh and Bhuj, showcasing the real-world viability of the newly integrated charging infrastructure.

Central to the new ecosystem is the “e for me” mobile app, which brings together all charging-related functions for both home and public use. Customers can locate charging stations, make payments through UPI or via Maruti Suzuki Money powered by Razorpay, set up their home charger and even control its output remotely. The app also supports “Tap N Charge” functionality through a single card and can be mirrored on the vehicle’s infotainment system for in-car convenience.

The company says the e Vitara, manufactured in India for global markets, has been tested across diverse terrains and temperatures ranging from minus 30 to 60 degrees Celsius. With a claimed driving range of 543 kilometres, the SUV is positioned as a benchmark model for Maruti Suzuki’s entry into the EV segment.

With its charging network, digital platform and service infrastructure in place, Maruti Suzuki aims to remove key barriers to EV adoption and build confidence among first-time electric buyers. The company expects the integrated ecosystem to play a crucial role as India moves toward broader electrification in the coming decade.

Staff WriterNew Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited has taken a decisive step toward its electric transition, unveiling a unified charging ecosystem that brings home and public charging onto a single digital platform.
