The company, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Piaggio Group, announced the introductions as part of its effort to raise performance standards in last-mile mobility and expand its long-standing diesel portfolio in India.

The Apé Xtra Bada 700 emerged as the highlight of the launch. Piaggio has built it on an all-new platform featuring a reworked chassis, updated architecture and an upgraded cabin. The company has positioned the model as a breakthrough in the diesel 3W cargo space, designed for operators who need more power, more carrying capacity and better long-term productivity. At the heart of the new model is Piaggio’s 700 DI diesel engine, engineered to deliver stronger torque, improved pickup and greater pulling strength for heavy loads and demanding routes.

One of the Bada 700’s biggest talking points is the debut of India’s first 7-foot cargo deck in the three-wheeler category. This allows operators to move longer, bulkier goods that previously required a small four-wheeler. The model also sets a new benchmark with its 750-kg payload, currently the highest among diesel three-wheelers in the country. Piaggio has paired this with larger 12-inch radial tyres and a reinforced suspension setup to increase stability, load distribution and overall durability on varied road conditions.

The cabin sees a noticeable redesign, offering more space and better comfort for drivers who often spend long hours on the road. A 3.5-inch digital instrument cluster adds modern functionality, while the new fascia and refined exterior elements give the vehicle a cleaner, more robust road presence. To ease everyday operations, Piaggio has added an optional reversing sensor, and the company is backing the vehicle with a five-year warranty to provide operators long-term assurance and lower maintenance concerns.

Alongside the flagship, Piaggio also introduced the Apé Xtra 600. This model brings in the newly developed 600 DI diesel engine, designed for customers who need a reliable and efficient workhorse for daily intra-city and semi-urban logistics. The engine offers better fuel efficiency, stronger gradeability and higher load-carrying ability, which improves its appeal as an affordable yet capable diesel option. With a focus on comfort and durability, the Apé Xtra 600 continues the legacy of the Apé Xtra range that has long served small businesses and transport operators.

Speaking at the launch, Diego Graffi, Chairman and Managing Director of Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd, said the company remains committed to pushing innovation in last-mile mobility. He described the Apé Xtra Bada 700 as a milestone product with industry-first advantages in engine capacity, deck length and payload, giving customers the tools to improve productivity and earnings. He added that the Apé Xtra 600 builds on Piaggio’s commitment to delivering dependable, high-value mobility solutions for a wide customer base.

Amit Sagar, Executive Vice President for CV Domestic Business and Retail Finance at Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd, noted that expectations in the cargo mobility space are evolving quickly. According to him, customers now seek higher power, better comfort and stronger performance without compromising on operating costs. He explained that the Bada 700 directly addresses these expectations with a new platform and segment-leading features that offer better profitability. He added that the model provides a convincing alternative to entry-level four-wheeler cargo vehicles due to its lower operating expenses and total cost of ownership. He also pointed out that the Apé Xtra 600 strengthens Piaggio’s diesel lineup with improved capability at an accessible price.

Both new models are now available at dealerships. The Apé Xtra Bada 700 is priced from INR 3.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra), while the Apé Xtra 600 begins at INR 2.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra).

Staff WriterNew Delhi: Piaggio Vehicles Pvt Ltd has strengthened its position in the small commercial vehicle sector with the launch of two new diesel cargo three-wheelers, the Apé Xtra Bada 700 and the Apé Xtra 600.
