Channai: Commercial vehicle major Ashok Leyland reported a robust performance in February 2026, posting healthy growth in both domestic and overall sales, driven largely by strong demand in the medium and heavy commercial vehicle segment.
In the domestic market, the company sold 20,314 vehicles in February 2026, marking a 28 percent rise compared to 15,879 units in the same month last year. The medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) segment remained the key growth engine. Domestic M&HCV truck sales surged 39 percent to 11,599 units from 8,368 units a year ago. However, M&HCV bus sales saw a marginal decline of 4 percent at 1,665 units against 1,742 units in February 2025.
Total domestic M&HCV sales stood at 13,264 units during the month, registering a 31 percent increase over 10,110 units in the corresponding period last year. The light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment also recorded strong momentum, with sales rising 22 percent to 7,050 units from 5,769 units a year earlier.
On a cumulative basis for the financial year so far, domestic sales reached 1,78,612 units, up 14 percent from 1,57,332 units in the previous year. Domestic M&HCV sales for the period climbed 13 percent to 1,11,795 units, while LCV volumes rose 14 percent to 66,817 units. Within M&HCV, truck sales grew 15 percent year-on-year to 92,634 units, and bus sales increased 6 percent to 19,161 units.
Including exports, the company’s total vehicle sales for February 2026 stood at 22,157 units, reflecting a 24 percent growth over 17,903 units in February 2025. Total M&HCV sales, including overseas shipments, rose 28 percent to 14,755 units during the month. M&HCV truck sales grew 33 percent to 11,907 units, while bus sales expanded 11 percent to 2,848 units.
Cumulative domestic plus export sales for the year so far reached 1,95,056 units, compared with 1,71,037 units in the same period last year, translating into a 14 percent growth. Total M&HCV volumes during this period increased 15 percent to 1,25,140 units. LCV sales, including exports, rose 13 percent to 69,916 units.
The February numbers underscore sustained demand in the truck segment and steady improvement in export performance, reinforcing the company’s position in a competitive commercial vehicle market.
