Bengaluru: Sansera Engineering Limited, a leading manufacturer of precision engineered components for the automotive and non-automotive sectors, has announced a strategic joint venture with Japan-based Nichidai Corporation to manufacture advanced automotive components for Indian and global markets.

Under the partnership, the two companies will set up a private limited joint venture company in Bengaluru to manufacture precision forged and machined aluminium and steel components. The new entity will focus on products such as differential assemblies, compressors, driveline parts and other advanced automotive components that are not currently part of Sansera’s manufacturing portfolio.

The collaboration brings together Nichidai Corporation’s five decades of experience in precision engineering, die manufacturing and component production across Japan and Thailand with Sansera’s strong manufacturing base and customer relationships in India’s automotive sector. The joint venture is aimed at creating a globally competitive manufacturing platform capable of serving both domestic original equipment manufacturers and international customers.

As per the agreed structure, Sansera Engineering will hold a 60 percent equity stake in the joint venture, while Nichidai Corporation will own the remaining 40 percent. The company will be incorporated and operated from Bengaluru, reflecting a focus on building a strong domestic manufacturing base aligned with the Government of India’s “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives, while also enabling the transfer of advanced Japanese manufacturing technologies.

Through this partnership, Sansera expects to significantly expand and diversify its product portfolio beyond internal combustion engine components, helping it mitigate risks associated with changing powertrain technologies. The joint venture is also expected to open access to new customer segments and overseas markets, create additional revenue streams, strengthen Sansera’s competitive position in the automotive value chain and generate skilled employment opportunities in Karnataka.

Commenting on the development, S Sekhar Vasan, Chairman and Managing Director of Sansera Engineering Limited, said the joint venture marks a pivotal milestone in the company’s growth journey. He said the partnership is aligned with Sansera’s long-term vision of expanding into high-value, technology-agnostic automotive component segments and evolving into a comprehensive solutions provider for the global automotive industry. Vasan added that access to Nichidai’s world-class Japanese precision engineering technologies and manufacturing processes would enable Sansera to produce advanced components that represent the next phase of automotive manufacturing excellence.

Naoki Ito, President of Nichidai Corporation, said the joint venture marks the company’s formal entry into India’s fast-growing automotive components manufacturing sector. He noted that India is among the world’s most dynamic automotive markets and that Nichidai had carefully evaluated opportunities before deciding to establish a presence in the country. Ito said Nichidai is confident that partnering with Sansera will provide a strong platform to bring its 50 years of precision engineering expertise and Japanese quality standards to Indian and global customers.

With this joint venture, both companies aim to tap into evolving automotive technologies and strengthen their positions in the global supply chain, while contributing to the development of advanced manufacturing capabilities in India.
