New Delhi: The eighth edition of the International Symposium on Lighting (ISoL-2025), hosted by the International Centre for Automotive Technology, closed with a strong message on collaboration, innovation and the future of mobility. The biennial event, held on November 17 and 18 at ICAT’s Centre-2 campus in Manesar, brought together industry leaders, global technology providers, researchers and policymakers to discuss the next wave of developments in automotive lighting.
The two-day symposium drew more than 700 professionals for its technical sessions, while the total footfall crossed 1,500 across exhibitions, discussions and award ceremonies. The gathering highlighted the sector’s growing focus on intelligent lighting systems, energy-efficient solutions and the crucial role lighting plays in vehicle safety and advanced driver assistance features.
This year’s edition featured 34 technical papers presented across six sessions that explored themes such as adaptive lighting technologies, glare management, design and styling, EV-centric lighting innovation, EMC challenges and regulatory evolution. The final panel discussion, centred on the theme “Smart, Adaptive and Safe: The Future of Automotive Lighting,” rounded off the technical agenda with insights from industry experts.

Two panel discussions added perspective to the proceedings. One focused on innovations that support safer night driving, particularly glare reduction. The other looked ahead to how smart and adaptive lighting will shape the mobility ecosystem in the coming years.
A dedicated exhibition showcased new products, components and technologies from OEMs, suppliers and service providers. The displays underscored the industry’s emphasis on domestic capability-building, self-reliance and next-generation design.
The valedictory session on November 18 saw the presentation of 13 awards across various categories. The ceremony was attended by senior industry figures including Tarun Aggarwal of Maruti Suzuki India, Latika Taneja of Hero MotoCorp, Deepak Jain of the Lumax Group, Vivek Jindal of Uno Minda, Rajesh Jain of Neolite ZKW, ICAT Director Saurabh Dalela and ISOL Convenor Dr. Madhusudhan Joshi.

Lumax Industries took home the award for Best Innovation in Automotive Lighting, while Neolite ZKW Lighting won Best Optical Design. Fiem Industries received the award for Excellence in Automotive Lighting. Other winners included Uno Minda for Low-Cost Novel Optical Design, KK Lighting as the Most Promising Newcomer, and Hella India Lighting for Best Product in LED and Micro-LED technologies. Fiem Industries and Neolite ZKW were recognised as Best Exhibitors, with Lumax Industries and KK Lighting named first and second runners-up.

Awards for individual technical presentations also drew attention. The FIEM Foundation Award for Best Presentation went to Gaurav Bhatia of Fiem Industries. The Shri Pramod Chand Jain Memorial Award for Best Female Presenter, given by Neolite, was awarded to Miwako Kobayashi of Stanley Electric. The Usha Jain Memorial Award for Best Technical Paper, instituted by Lumax, was presented to Sachin W. Josh of Neolite ZKW.
