New Delhi: Ashok Leyland, the Indian flagship of the Hinduja Group and one of the world’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, has expanded its footprint in Qatar through a new partnership with FAMCO Qatar, an Al-Futtaim Group company. The move builds on Ashok Leyland’s successful 2024 expansion into Saudi Arabia with FAMCO KSA, reinforcing the strong strategic alliance between Al-Futtaim and Ashok Leyland. The launch, held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, marks a significant milestone as Qatar continues to advance its transport and infrastructure ambitions.
Through its partnership with FAMCO Qatar, Ashok Leyland brings to the Qatari market a trusted legacy of over 75 years, offering robust, reliable, and innovative commercial vehicles tailored to the needs of local businesses and communities. The comprehensive product portfolio includes the flagship ‘Falcon’ and ‘Oyster’ buses, which are renowned for advanced safety and passenger comfort, along with the versatile ‘Boss’ and ‘Partner’ light and medium-duty trucks. Whether it is the fleet operator segment, or logistics companies, or it is SMEs and public transportation businesses, each Ashok Leyland vehicle is designed to give operational longevity, optimal fuel efficiency, and a lower total cost of ownership.
The introduction of Electric Buses from Ashok Leyland is particularly noteworthy since it demonstrates the Company’s commitment to globally provide environment-friendly mobility solutions.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Rajesh R, Head of International Operations, Ashok Leyland, said, “Today is a proud moment as we introduce Ashok Leyland’s best-in-class commercial vehicles in Qatar, in partnership with FAMCO Qatar and the Al-Futtaim Group. Our presence here extends our proven track record in the Middle East and reflects our deep commitment to shaping the future of mobility in these markets. Together, we are poised to deliver lasting value through reliable uptime, world-class aftersales support, and a focus on innovation and sustainability”.
Mr. Ramez Hamdan, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Industrial Equipment, added: ” Ashok Leyland is a brand built on trust and progress. Following our success in Saudi Arabia, we are proud to bring that impact to Qatar – a nation investing in its infrastructure, its people, and its future. With Ashok Leyland’s trusted range, including the new Electric Buses, and today’s debut of FAMCO Qatar, we are helping shape a more connected, more sustainable tomorrow for Qatar’s businesses and communities.”
Offering competitive pricing, low total cost of ownership, and the assurance of FAMCO Qatar’s extensive service network, the partnership is set to enhance the capabilities of Qatar’s transport and logistics sector and deliver long-term value to local businesses and communities.
