New Delhi: Eicher Trucks and Buses, a division of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) Limited, has stepped up its focus on driver well-being with a series of health check-up camps held across more than 20 key transport hubs in the country. Conducted under the company’s flagship Eicher Highway Superheroes Program and in partnership with Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, the initiative reached over 900 truck drivers in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Haryana, Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
The camps provided free eye screenings, general health checkups, and road safety awareness sessions. Eicher said the effort is part of its ongoing commitment to support drivers, who play a central role in road safety and efficient transport operations.
“Truck and bus drivers form the backbone of our logistics system. At Eicher, we salute these highway heroes who tirelessly keep our economy running. We believe driver well-being is central to building a safe and sustainable transport ecosystem,” said Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO of VECV. He added that the program aims to make essential health services more accessible to drivers, including eye care, while also contributing to safer roads.
Launched in 2016, the Eicher Highway Superheroes Program has grown into a nationwide initiative that combines medical care with road safety education. The company currently operates 13 Eicher Eye and Ear Screening Mobile Vans and a fixed health center at Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar in Delhi. It has also tied up with 10 hospitals, partnered with 2,500 transporters, and works alongside transport departments in 11 states. Since its inception, the program has reached more than 2.7 lakh drivers across India.
Beyond healthcare, Eicher also invests in driver skill development through the Phoenix-Eicher Institute of Driver Training and Research in Latur, Maharashtra. The institute offers professional training programs aimed at improving the competencies of truck and bus drivers, further supporting their long-term growth and safety on the road.
