Doha, Qatar: In a significant step towards bolstering its presence in the Middle East, Tata Motors, one of the world’s foremost automobile manufacturers, has launched its all-new LPO 1622 bus in Qatar. The launch event, held in partnership with Tata Motors’ official distributor in the region, Al Hamad Automobiles, marks a strategic move aimed at strengthening the company’s commercial vehicle portfolio and addressing the growing demand for efficient staff transportation solutions in Qatar.

The LPO 1622 is Tata Motors’ first Euro VI-compliant bus in the Middle East, signifying a new benchmark in sustainable, high-performance mobility tailored specifically for the region’s operational needs. Developed with an emphasis on fuel efficiency, passenger comfort, and cost-effectiveness, the vehicle is expected to deliver long-term value for fleet operators across Qatar.

At the launch event, Mr. Asif Shamim, Head of International Business for Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, underscored the importance of the Middle Eastern market in the company’s global strategy. “The Middle East continues to be a strategic focus for Tata Motors, where our products have consistently delivered value across a range of applications,” he stated. “With Qatar being a key market, we are pleased to further strengthen our presence with the launch of the all-new LPO 1622 bus, designed to offer higher profitability to customers and superior comfort to passengers. Supported by a strong and responsive after-sales ecosystem, we remain committed to delivering reliable, advanced mobility solutions tailored to evolving needs and requirements.”

Echoing the sentiment, Mr. Mohamed Yousef Al Mana, Chairman of Al Hamad Automobiles, expressed pride in the enduring collaboration with Tata Motors. “We are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Tata Motors and support the expansion of their commercial vehicle portfolio in Qatar,” he said. “As a trusted partner, our focus remains on providing comprehensive after-sales support through our wide service network and easy availability of genuine spare parts. With dedicated teams and infrastructure in place, we are fully committed to ensuring maximum uptime, operational continuity, and long-term value for our customers across the country.”

The new LPO 1622 bus is powered by a robust Cummins ISBe 5.6L Euro VI-compliant engine, capable of delivering 220 horsepower and 925 Nm of torque. This makes it an ideal solution for demanding staff transport operations. Available in 61-seater and 65-seater configurations, the bus offers operational flexibility to cater to varied transportation needs. Key safety and performance features include a full air dual-circuit braking system with ABS, tubeless radial tyres, and a heavy-duty suspension system, ensuring road stability and ride comfort.

Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with an array of advanced technological enhancements such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Start Assist, Cruise Control, and a Multimode Switch—tools that enable it to adapt efficiently to diverse road and load conditions. With ergonomic seating arrangements, durable aggregates, and a focus on reducing total cost of ownership, the LPO 1622 aims to deliver high uptime and an enhanced travel experience for passengers.

In addition to the LPO 1622, Tata Motors also showcased its upgraded lineup of Prima heavy trucks, now available in Euro-V compliant versions tailored for Qatar’s infrastructure and construction sectors. The new Prima range includes the Prima 4040.K, Prima 4440.S, Prima 4040.T, and Prima 6040.S—each engineered for maximum productivity, rugged performance, and regional suitability.

Tata Motors currently offers a broad range of commercial vehicles across over 40 international markets, with products covering a wide spectrum from sub-1-tonne cargo vehicles to 60-tonne trucks and mass mobility solutions for up to 71 passengers. Known for its engineering excellence and strong R&D foundation, Tata Motors continues to design and test its vehicles to meet the evolving needs of diverse geographies.

The launch of the LPO 1622 and the enhanced Prima range underscores Tata Motors’ intent to stay at the forefront of commercial transportation in the Middle East, combining world-class technology with a deep understanding of regional requirements.
