New Delhi: JBM Green Energy Systems (P) Ltd. (JBMG), the lithium-ion battery division of JBM Auto Ltd., has announced a significant milestone with its orderbook for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects reaching 3 GWh capacity. This surge has been primarily driven by a series of high-profile contracts, including a 1 GWh deployment for SJVN Ltd. and other key customers, marking a strong step forward in India’s energy storage sector.

Building on the legacy of JBM Auto’s decade-long leadership in green mobility and advanced energy solutions, JBMG is rapidly emerging as a leading force in the storage space. The company leverages its in-house capabilities across the full spectrum of lithium-ion battery design, intelligent energy management, and scalable storage architecture. JBMG’s clientele spans multiple segments of the electric vehicle ecosystem — from passenger cars and commercial vehicles to two- and three-wheelers — in addition to applications ranging from mini-grids to multi-gigawatt utility-scale projects.

The upcoming BESS deployments will feature cutting-edge, grid-integrated technologies known for their fast response times, high round-trip efficiency, and seamless compatibility with solar infrastructure. These systems will play a critical role in enabling time-shifting of energy, frequency regulation, and peak shaving — essential functionalities in India’s transition to a flexible and renewable-powered grid.

“BESS is a very critical component of India’s 500 GW renewable energy target by 2030,” said Mr. Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of JBM Auto Ltd. “JBMG brings robust experience in deploying high-performance battery systems for electric mobility, which now extends to utility-scale storage with proven engineering excellence and operational reliability.”

He further highlighted the company’s technological evolution over the past five years, noting, “We have successfully developed next-generation battery and storage technologies in India by investing in global partnerships and best-in-class systems. This ensures rapid market readiness and high modularity across applications.”

JBMG operates India’s largest high-voltage lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant in the Delhi-NCR region, boasting an annual capacity of 6 GWh. The facility supports advanced development, simulation, and testing of intelligent battery systems for EVs as well as complete BESS solutions for standalone and hybrid peak-sharing energy projects.

With its integrated manufacturing approach, intelligent software solutions, and strong commitment to sustainability, JBM Green Energy Systems is poised to play a pivotal role in powering India’s clean energy transformation.
