New Delhi: Eicher Motors’ commercial vehicle arm, VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), posted a strong performance in January 2026, driven by healthy demand for trucks and a sharp rise in exports. Total VECV sales, including electric vehicles, rose nearly 25% year-on-year to 10,601 units in January, compared with 8,489 units a year earlier
Domestic sales remained the mainstay, growing 23.6% to 9,729 units. The momentum was led by trucks, particularly in the small and light-duty segment. Sales of domestic SCV and LMD trucks climbed 42.6% to 5,401 units, reflecting continued strength in last-mile logistics and regional freight movement. Heavy-duty trucks also showed solid traction, with volumes rising 33.5% to 2,680 units, pointing to steady infrastructure activity and replacement demand.
The bus segment, however, remained under pressure. LMD bus sales slipped 11.4% to 1,525 units in January, while heavy-duty bus volumes declined sharply by 65.4% to 123 units, suggesting delayed fleet purchases and a cautious approach by transport operators.
Exports emerged as a bright spot during the month. Total export volumes jumped 55.8% year-on-year to 701 units, supported by strong growth across segments. Export sales of buses surged 175% to 319 units, while heavy-duty truck exports rose nearly 48% to 65 units. SCV and LMD exports also recorded a modest increase, underscoring improving traction in overseas markets.
Volvo Trucks and Buses, also part of the VECV portfolio, reported marginal growth of 2.4% in January, with sales of 171 units, broadly stable compared with last year.
On a cumulative basis for the financial year so far, VECV’s total sales increased 14.6% to 80,198 units. Domestic volumes grew 12.8%, while exports expanded a robust 51.8%, highlighting the growing contribution of international markets to overall performance
The January numbers point to a steady recovery in the commercial vehicle cycle for Eicher, with trucks and exports providing the key lift even as buses continue to lag.
